The Three Refuges

Am F I take refuge in the Buddha,\n C G Am The one who shows me the way in this life.\n F I take refuge in the Dharma,\n C G Am The way of understanding and love.\n F I take refuge in the Sangha,\n C G Am The community that lives in harmony and awareness.\nF\nI take refuge in these three jewels\n C G Am In perfect oneness of body, speech, and mind.\nTaking refuge in the Buddha,\nI clearly see the path of beauty in the world.\nTaking refuge in the Dharma,\nI learn to open many doors on the path.\nTaking refuge in the Sangha,\nShining light that keeps my practice free.\nI take refuge in these three jewels\nIn perfect oneness of body, speech, and mind.\nTaking refuge in the Buddha in myself,\nI aspire to help all people recognize their own awakened\nnature, realizing the mind of love.\nTaking refuge in the Dharma in myself,\nI aspire to help all people fully master the ways of\npractice, walk together on the path of liberation.\nTaking refuge in the Sangha in myself,\nI aspire to help all people build Four-Fold communities,\nembrace all beings and support their transformation.\nI take refuge in these three jewels\nIn perfect oneness of body, speech, and mind.
